Hi, I’m Amelia, the owner and groomer behind River Dog Grooming. I provide calm, fear-free, one-on-one grooming in Dunnellon, Florida. Each dog is treated with patience, gentle handling, and respect, especially those who are nervous or sensitive. My work is guided by faith and a commitment to caring for every dog with love, compassion, and integrity in a peaceful, low-stress environment.

Took Winston to River Dog Grooming for his very first groom and we had such a great experience! Amelia was so sweet and patient with him—he’s still a puppy and wasn’t quite sure what to think at first, but she made him feel comfortable and calm. He came out looking adorable and super fluffy! So glad we found a place (and groomer!) we can trust. We’ll definitely be back!

How do you ensure my dog is comfortable during grooming?

I use fear-free grooming techniques, gentle handling, and a calm, one-on-one approach. Each dog is groomed individually in a quiet environment without rushing. I work at your dog’s pace, offer breaks when needed, and prioritize safety and comfort throughout the entire grooming process—especially for nervous or sensitive dogs.

What should I do to prepare my dog for grooming?

Please make sure your dog has had a potty break before arriving and is up to date on vaccinations. A short walk beforehand can help release extra energy. Avoid feeding a large meal right before the appointment, and let me know ahead of time about any health concerns, sensitivities, or behavioral issues so I can provide the most comfortable grooming experience possible.

Can I stay with my dog during the grooming process?

For the safety and comfort of both pets and people, owners are not present during grooming. Many dogs are calmer and more cooperative when separated from their owners. My one-on-one, fear-free approach allows me to build trust and focus fully on your dog’s needs in a calm, low-stress environment.
